Your team's collaborative plan
Bring in the plan your team wrote together, so the school-wide focuses are sitting there when you fill in your own term topics. The file is read on this device and never uploaded.
Word (.docx), Excel (.xlsx), CSV and most PDFs — or straight from Google Drive, including Google Docs, Sheets and shared drives. Photographed or scanned pages can't be read; paste the text for those.
Google Drive asks you to sign into Google separately from Planline. Planline sees only the one file you pick — never the rest of your Drive — and the file comes straight to this browser without passing through Planline's server.
What did we find?
Planline has had a go at sorting these. Fix anything it guessed wrong, untick what you don't want, then bring them in.
School-wide focuses
These feed the term topics screen. You can add rows here by hand too.
Term topics
What each curriculum area is about this term. Anything from the school plan is filled in already — change it to suit your class.
Unit plans
A unit per area per term, with the lessons in the order you'll teach them. Once a unit has lessons, you can drop them straight into the weekly plan.
Term dates
Your school's term dates. Everything else — week numbers, the planner, assessment weeks — is built from these.
Teacher only days and public holidays
Days with no students. These are blanked out in the weekly plan.
Events
Camps, trips, swimming, athletics, production — anything that takes time out of the week. Events show on the plan and can block out the periods they cover.
Release days
Days or times you're out of the classroom — CRT, EOTC, leadership time. Your lessons stay in the plan, marked for the reliever, so you can plan for whoever's covering.
Meetings
Regular meetings that repeat through the term. They appear on the plan so you can see them when you plan around them.
Duties
Your playground and bus duties. They show on the weekly plan in the break they fall in, so you can see at a glance where you need to be.
Bell times
The shape of your day. Teaching blocks are the periods you plan into; breaks and admin periods are shown but not planned.
Teaching days
Turn off a day if you don't teach it.
Standard week
Your usual timetable — the maths block, reading, the fixed slots like assembly and PE. Every new week starts from this, then you change whatever that week needs.
Teacher aides
Who is in, and when. Their hours appear on every weekly plan automatically.
Aide timetable
Tap a period to put an aide in it. What you write here shows on the weekly plan.
Assessment schedule
Schedule assessments by term and week. They appear on the weekly plan, and you can tick them off as they're done.
Unit plans
Read only.
Term topics

Admin
Only visible to you. Account details only — nobody's plans.

Emails
Every lifecycle and billing email, when it fires, and what it currently says. Editing one replaces it entirely — the built-in wording stays one click away as "Reset to default".

Guided setup
The step-by-step setup — your class details, term dates, bell times, and everything else below. Nothing you've already entered is lost; the wizard starts from what's already here.
Colour theme
Changes the colours only — everything stays where it is. It's saved to your account, so it follows you to your other devices.
Your class
This goes on the top of anything you print.
Curriculum areas
The areas you plan for. Turn off any you don't use, and add your own — te reo Māori, inquiry, whatever your school calls it.
Curriculum version
Which set of strands the WALT and curriculum-link dropdowns offer. The refreshed learning areas came out through 2026 and land in classrooms on different dates, so add each area's strands as your school takes it up.
Your plans are saved on this device
Planline saves to this browser as you work. Nothing is sent anywhere. Back up to a file if you plan on more than one device, or before clearing your browser.
